Description
This rake has curved teeth and a set of secondary teeth that run at 90 degrees from the top
of the teeth, allowing easier collection and removal of wet leaves and grass.
We specialise in rakes and from the extensive Chelwood range you’ll see a rake is ‘not just a rake’. Our rakes are for general or specialist purposes and are designed with ease of use and reliability in mind.
We also offer snow shovels and equestrian forks.
Un-like many rakes on the market most of our rakes feature angled or curved teeth, which provide several benefits. A short backward push will clean off wet leaves, grass, rubbish etc. We refer to this as ‘self-cleaning’. For this type of work hold rake at an approximate 70-degree angle.
When used at 45 degrees an angled or curved tooth can be particularly effective at creating seed beds, even from rough clay soil by raking back and forth in just a few minutes. The forward motion draws lumps of soil upwards while the backward motion breaks them down. (A straight edge tends to just push the lumps backwards).
We use un-varnished high quality wooden handles (unless otherwise specified) because they are better at preventing sores and splinters. Also, any slight damage that can occur from everyday use is easily sanded out. As all our rakes are made to order we can supply them with different length handles than specified on request and subject to availability.
Our water rakes are made from high tensile steel, they are extremely strong and durable and built for everyday use extracting heavy loads. Available in a range of sizes to suit water ways of every kind and eliminating the need for a boat. However, we do not recommend they are used in ponds with weak linings.
